Our Foundation

Two engineers, one obvious gap.

India moves an enormous amount of freight in small trucks. Almost all of it still burns diesel. The vehicles that are replacing them are being assembled faster than they are being engineered — and it shows in the field.

POWERTRAIN INTEGRATION

The hard part isn’t the motor.

Buying a motor and an inverter is straightforward. Plenty of good ones are available off the shelf. What separates a commercial EV that a fleet keeps buying from one it quietly retires is everything around the powertrain: how the pack is protected, how quickly a fault is diagnosed, how the vehicle is updated, and what the operator can actually see.

Those are software and electronics problems. They are also, conveniently, the two things we have spent our careers on.

Our Leadership

Complimentary Halves of the same problem

Orin Motors was founded by two people who had each spent years solving one half of the electric commercial vehicle equation, and kept running into the other half.

Venkat Sundar:

Venkat spent more than sixteen years in automotive embedded software development at Bosch and Mercedes‑Benz, working on vehicle diagnostics, AUTOSAR platform software, over‑the‑air updates and the emerging SOVD standard.

In 2024 he founded Systream Tech India, a specialist engineering firm working on software‑defined vehicle platforms and EV energy systems for OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers in India and Europe. At Orin he leads vehicle electronics, control software and the in‑house battery management programme.

Gaurav Lohia

Gaurav is the founder and chief executive of Tobor, an Indian EV charging company that manufactures its own hardware — AC chargers from 3.3 kW through to 60 kW DC fast chargers, along with EVSE controllers and power line communication modules.

Tobor builds under one roof, from PCB design to finished enclosure, and runs its own charging station and fleet management platforms. At Orin he leads hardware, manufacturing and the charging side of the vehicle programme.

Our Approach

Buy what is solved. Build what matters.

We are a young company and we are honest about what that means. We are not going to reinvent a chassis or a steering column. We are going to be very particular about the parts that decide whether the vehicle is any good
